2006 Thuemmler
8.5m example, discovered in Berlin in 2006. The former owner sold the hull to the current owner, who rebuilt it on the faithful basis of plans from the archives.
The photo shows this powerful boat at the former ,Engelbrecht’ shipyard now Autoboote Berlin, the same site where it was manufactured in 1931 and subsequently restored. After several years of restoration, “Grand Dauphin”, this extremely rare speedboat, once again shines in all its splendor.
From the shell to the ceiling, the parts have been completely and meticulously reworked or replaced. Mahogany and Alaskan yellow cedar are the wood species that decorate this sublime ship. The operation of the B30 engine is the same used in the legendary Volvo 164 car. It has three carburetors and a different cylinder head. With economical fuel consumption, it is very reliable in daily use. Like no other, “Dolphin” recalls the classic Berlin cigar boats of the 1930s.
